Hi from Ian(GC: VK3JAP),

This is the website of ‘GeoTech’ – the GeoTech podcast – a Geocaching podcast made in the land down under for Geocachers the world over. The Focus of GeoTech is on explaining the many different aspects of caching and the technologies we use but doing so in a fashion that’s easily digestible.

Over time I’ve listened to a few different GeoCaching podcasts and being a techo myself I like to understand all the different aspects of GeoCaching. I never found a podcast that seemed to fit exactly what I was after so either I couldn’t find it or it doesn’t exist.

Whether it’s understanding the difference between a Traditional or Multi Cache or knowing how we take a cheap digital clock and give it the accuracy of a atomic clock using the GPS system – I hope this is the place where you can come to find out.

VK3JAP ? – It’s my Amateur Radio callsign – VK means Australia, 3 means the state of Victoria, J means Advanced License class(aka FULL Call) and AP is just something unique to me. I did have many different usernames for the websites of the different hobbies I have traversed through over time but I stuck with vk3jap because it was always just me, and always free for me to use!

Geocaching has over time and does still bring me lots of pleasure so this is my way of giving back to the hobby – I hope you enjoy.
